Hush is private by design. Your notes, voice, and photos are processed entirely on your iPhone and are never uploaded. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
None of your content. Hush has no servers and never receives your notes, audio, or photos. There is no sign-up and no login.
Voice is transcribed using Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Text is read from photos you choose — and from documents you scan with the camera — on your device. Notes are organized by Apple’s on-device intelligence, with a local fallback. Photo text can be translated on your device with Apple’s Translation framework. Content you share into Hush from other apps, capture through Siri and Shortcuts, or start from a Hush widget is turned into a note on your device. “Ask your notes” finds and answers from your own notes entirely on your iPhone. Your content is never sent to any cloud AI service.
Hush does not use any third-party or cloud AI service. All processing runs on your device using Apple’s own on-device frameworks: Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence) to organize your notes, the Speech framework to transcribe your voice, the Vision framework to read text in photos, and the Translation framework to translate text. Your notes, voice, and photos never require a network connection — Hush organizes, transcribes, and reads in airplane mode.
The one time Hush uses the network is the first time you translate a given language: Apple may download that language’s translation pack to your device. This is a first-party download from Apple that contains none of your notes or personal data — only the language model — and afterwards translation works fully offline.
Your notes, voice, and photos are never transmitted to us or to any external AI provider (such as OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic). We do not collect, sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with anyone. Because nothing is sent to a third party, there is no third party with whom to share it.
If you buy a Hush Pro subscription or the lifetime upgrade, the purchase is handled by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Apple processes your payment; we never see your payment details. The app only receives whether your subscription is active, so it can unlock features and restore purchases. This is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Each permission is optional, used only for the feature it powers, and can be changed anytime in iOS Settings.
When you use the system share sheet to send text, a link, or an image to Hush, it is processed on your device — images are read with the on-device Vision framework — and saved as a note in Hush’s private, on-device storage, shared only between Hush and its own share extension. Nothing is uploaded.
To-do reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device. They do not use push notifications, a notification server, or any network — a reminder never leaves your iPhone.
For Hush Pro users, iCloud Sync is on by default, so your notes sync between your devices through your own private iCloud database (CloudKit), tied to your Apple ID. This is Apple infrastructure end to end: the data goes from your device to your iCloud — never to us, and we have no way to read it. Hush has no servers. You can turn sync off anytime in Settings ▸ iCloud Sync, and Hush then works fully locally (and still works in airplane mode either way). Free (non-Pro) notes never sync anywhere. Deleting a note removes it from your iCloud sync data as well.
Your notes are stored locally on your device (and, only while iCloud Sync is on, in your own private iCloud as described above). If you have iCloud Backup turned on, iOS may include Hush’s data in your own private iCloud backup — created and controlled entirely by your Apple ID settings, not by Hush, and we can never access it. To remove data, delete a note in the app or delete the app.
Hush is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
